Anna Tyler was born in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil but lives in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, with her husband and daughter.
Her earliest childhood memory is seeing a shooting star through the windshield of her uncle’s car.
When she was seven, she was obsessed with the only book her house had: an Atlas her father exchanged after collecting stamps from the local newspaper.
Anna spent perhaps too much time wondering about galaxies and is now passionate about studying them and simplifying astronomy and physics so others may have access to the beauty of the Universe, too.
She is a lawyer, a mother, and holds an LLB, a post-graduate degree in Civil Law, and a post-graduate degree in Software Engineering, but her true passion is the cosmos, though law still moves her heart.
Her teenage years were spent borrowing books like Percy Jackson and Greek mythology encyclopedias. Her favorite movie is Titanic; her favorite TV shows are Lost and Doctor Who; and she loves movies about disasters, tsunamis, or survival against all odds.
Her favorite planet is Earth, and she grew a deeper connection to it after writing Crossringed.
She loves Queen, The Killers, Avril Lavigne, and anything from a Y2K MP3 player. For present-day music, she can perform the entire Eras Tour setlist.
She is passionate about London and the Tudor era, her favorite destination. She loves traveling, sushi, chocolate, and reading to her daughter.
Anna can predict the ending and entire plot of an M. Night Shyamalan movie within the first two minutes—with witnesses to prove it.
Her biggest dreams as a writer are to make people fall in love with the cosmos, to see her books adapted into motion pictures, and to make her daughter proud.
